Demonstration style class with some hands on participation. Includes a light dinner of open faced sandwiches and generous samples of all treats.
In Swedish kitchens, the month of December is a flurry of activity. From the spicy, crispy ginger cookies pepparkakor to the yellow, saffron flavored buns saffransbullar, home baked treats are a must. Each Sunday, friends and family gather to celebrate the season with adventskaffe, a gathering of coffee and cookies, and often a batch of Swedish mulled wine, glögg. Join Fika coauthor Anna Brones for adventskaffe in the Book Larder kitchen and learn to bake some Swedish classics. Students will also take home a traditional Swedish cookie cutter.
Menu includes: pepparkakor (Swedish gingersnaps); Lussekatter (saffron buns), Mandelmusslor (almond tart shell filled with jam), open faced sandwiches on rye; and glögg.
Class is limited to 12 students. Please note that reservations are non-refundable.
