Demonstration style class. Includes dinner and spices.
What are spices to you? Did you grow up in a household where the main cook had that “secret spice” for everything? Or did you discover a spice while traveling abroad and wanted to duplicate it? Want to learn how to use spices in multiple ways? Join us on a fun class centered around spices and the beauty of what’s out there besides the basic seasoning salt, paprika, and cumin.
Learn from Seattle native, pop-up extraordinaire, Chef Tarik “The Spiceman” Abdullah (Midnight Mecca, Morning Star, Cicchetti, #feedthepeople) and how he harmonizes and rifts with common recipes and flavors to create something truly one of a kind and satisfying.
Chef Tarik’s cuisine is inspired by the tastes and flavors of his childhood, growing up in a Muslim family and broader community where ethnic foods were the norm. His culinary creations honor traditions from North Africa and the Mediterranean.
Menu includes: Indonesian ayam spiced cauliflower nuggets; tabil oil and bread; yucca gnocchi with el greco butter sauce; Hawaij spiced chickpea pigeon pea spinach ragout topped with yogurt; polenta; boharat spiced squash bread.
.Class is limited to 12 students. Please note that class reservations are non-refundable.
