Book Larder is thrilled to be partnering with Sea Wolf Bakers as they share the secrets of their amazing Rye Bread. Class will be held in the Sea Wolf bakery.
Kit and Jesse will teach you the key points of baking high-percentage rye bread: hand-mixing, proofing and baking. They'll also provide examples of rye dough throughout the bread-making process. Using covered pullman pans, they'll will bake a few prepared loaves, so students can see what a fully proofed sourdough looks like before and after it goes into the oven. They will also cover the basics of building and maintaining a sourdough culture. Everyone will leave the class with their own container of sourdough starter, a recipe for Sea Wolf's caraway rye, the ingredients with which to mix their own rye at home, and a chunk of bread to enjoy. You'll have fresh baked rye bread on your table after this informative, semi-hands on class.
Class is limited to 10 students and includes coffee, bread samples, and sourdough starter to take home. Please note that class reservations are non-refundable.
