Whether you’ve only ever kept your own blog or you’re already earning money from your food writing, this three-hour class is designed to take you to the next level. Using in-class snacks, students will learn about and then put into practice the elements of great food writing: describing the food, the people around the food, and the feelings we get from eating.
Readings, writing prompts, and exercises will leave you inspired to keep writing beyond the class, and the final segment, on writing for publication, will help move amateur food writers into the professional realm and help published food writers explore better ways to pitch editors and make more money.
The course is taught by Naomi Tomky, an Association of Food Journalism award winner, published by Saveur, Food & Wine, and Vogue, and included in Best Food Writing 2017. Locally, she writes for The Stranger and Seattle Magazine.
Class is limited to 12 students and includes light snacks. Please note that reservations are non-refundable.
